For those of you that are interested, my name is Garry and I am a stock photographer.

Sounds like I should be in some sort of support group doesn’t it.

I have been into photography since around 2001 when I bought my first SLR camera, a Minolta Dynax 5. I joined South Manchester Camera Club soon after and now try my hand at the stock market, the stock photography market. I also teach introduction to photography courses at evening classes when the demand is there, or the colleges remember to ask me.

I now shoot completely digital with a Sony Alpha 100 DSLR and a range of lenses. I don’t think of myself as an expert in photography and have not won any awards or accolades, but my images are appreciated by most people who see them so I thought it was about time I tried to earn a few quid from my photos.

I submit my images to Alamy. My first submission got approved on 18th July 2007 and I have been trying to add photos to my collection as regularly as I can. My ‘day job’ as a freelance web developer does get in the way of photography though, and I would love to be out taking pictures a lot more often than I do at the moment.

I am based in the North West of England, in Oldham, but I am originally from West Sussex and a town called Shoreham-By-Sea.

This web site is really a way to put down what I learn along the way so that other budding stock photographers can maybe pick up a few tips, or better still share a few tips with me. As I said, I am no expert or authority on Stock Photography, just an amateur photographer giving it a bash.
